ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR EDUCATION IN UK
The English language requirement as per UKVI is the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) level B2. Student needs a minimum 5.5 overall with 5.5 in each section in IELTS, but some of the UK universities require students with IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each section. IELTS waiver is available in most of the universities if the student has secured more than 65%– 70% marks in 12th English. There is a program called Pre-sessional English language program is also available in UK universities for the students who do not meet the IELTS requirements of the university. For a pre-sessional English course, foundation course or any other course below degree level, students will require SELT, IELTS from UKVI approved test centres only. The fees for the same is Rs. 18,500. There are 30 UKVI approved test centres in India. UKVI tests and standard IELTS tests are same but the difference is the centre has improved security features, which includes CCTV, Voice sampling and independent audits. The test results will be administered electronically and verifiable online.
